Pang Ung Ung means the low land that water is
held. In the past, this area of Pang Ung was the opium plantation run by hill
tribes. Now they grow colorful winter flowers and herbs that are useful for Thai
food and medical. Travel and learn the lifestyle of hill tribes, sip fresh
coffee from the plantation. Pang Ung is the place for those who love fresh cold

How to get
there From Mae Hong Son town, take Mae Hong Son-Pang Ma Pha Rd.
about 10 km. and then turn left to the same route that heads to Phu Clone,
passing Pha Suea Waterfall, Pang Tong Residence. Keep going along to the
crossroad, then turn left at a small sign stating "Ban Ruam Thai" pass Ban Huai
Ma Khua Som to Ban Ruam Thai or Pang Ung. There are lots of curves going up on
the steep hill on this narrow road. Sometimes the route is covered by fog, so
traveling in the midday is recommended.
Bus in front of Mae Hong Son
town market departs to Pang Ung at 9 am. and 3 pm. and from Pang Ung at 5.30 am.
and 11 am. The trip take approx. 2 hours. |
